Against the backdrop of the majestic Columbia River Gorge, lovers of the
arts
have a home in the city of Stevenson. Downtown is host to several
galleries.
You’ll even find rotating fine art on the wall of the local coffee
bar, Bahma.
When it comes to cultural events, Stevenson has them to boot. A trip to our annual blues, folk and bluegrass music festivals is an auditory delight. And Skamania Performing Arts Foundation’s (SPAF) “Guest Artist Series” isn’t to be missed. For something new in the summer of 2008, check out The Golden Garter at Rock Creek Center, Stevenson's newest old theater will take you back in time to the edge of the wild frontier, 1908, the year Stevenson was incorporated as a city, and let you experience the most popular entertainment of the time - the melodrama.
If you have a taste for something
more dramatic, the SPAF’s annual musical
is an excellent choice. The New Director’s Series in the fall and
in the spring
will provide delightful off-season entertainment. Or dust off that
bodice
and don your best Renaissance attire for the Madrigal Feast.
